broken and shattered....

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise."
Psalm 51:17

This cup is Ian's. It was a gift from my mom. From her travels and missions in Bulgaria. It is his favorite most treasured cup.

It has been broken more times than I know.

But every time, Ian mends it and glues it and REstores it. Because he loves it and treasures it.

HOW MUCH more does our God long to do that with us and our broken hearts.....our weary and broken sprit?

It's actually a gift that we can give him, our brokenness.

It is there that he can meet us and mend us and put us back together the way HE sees fit....

the cracks become beautiful work, the once shattered shards pieced back together show someone loved the cup, OR PERSON, that much to put it back together. for the umpteenth time. no matter the damage.

He promises to do that for us...but we have to bring him the pieces. and trust. and humble ourselves to know HE knows what he is doing....and HE does love us that much.

There's grace in that mercy. Thankful for that grace today.....

I want to remember with regularity, that brokenness is the Lord's delight. It's shameful to the world, but the beginning of all things glorious in the Lord. Thank you, Lyss!
