waiting on the world to change?

"earthly wisdom is rooted in the belief that all of life can be understood, rationalized and proved scientifically. but God moves in ways that are still a mystery to man. science can never prove what causes a person to fall in love. it can never prove what happens to a person after death. it can never measure the breadth or depth of God's love and mercy. NONE of the world's information we have acquired...NONE will be useful in eternity. the wisdom of this world has no capability to carry a person from this life into the next....." (charles f. stanley)

"As as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways..." Isaiah 55:9

"at times, God requires a season of waiting before He sends His blessing. then trust becomes your greatest asset. if you don't trust God with your need, you will cry out in fear and panic. at one point, during a storm on the sea of Galilee, the disciples thought they would perish. but Jesus commanded the wind and waves to be still. He taught those men how to trust Him even in the most tempestuous of circumstances, and He is teaching you to watch and wait for His outstretched arm..." (charles f. stanley)

"Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass..." Psalm 37:5

seriously, why does john mayer think "waiting on the world to change" will work, or even happen? that has been one of my favorite songs in the past...but now it doesn't make all that much sense to me because when i read scripture and am reminded how this place is not my home and it is broken on it's own...it is then, that i remember and realize that this world will never change, only we can as people...when things suck in this world, we act so surprised and are shocked most times but why? we sit around expecting better but better doesn't come till heaven, so we have to deal with the world we walk in and know that life will be hard and unfair, we just have a HOPE rope to hold onto if we so chose that will keep us dangling safely off the cliff at times in the midst of the crappy-ness, that's the difference with choosing Christ...people will still hurt and suffer, people will lie and steal and kill and do evil things, babies die and bad things will happen and injustice will fly in the face of the most undeserving people...but we can be strengthened with His might and power to be changed ourselves while still in this world, we can be challenged to trust our giver of Justice and Counselor, we can stand up to those "weasels" who spew injustice and unfairness in our face with grace He gives us to do so because it is not our place to bring the justice, God will do that..it is our place and our job to become Grace through asking for it, begging sometimes, so that we may overcome the "it's-not-fair-i-just-want-to-punch-em-in-the-face" mentality and get to a place a peace. weasels won't win me or take me down, they won't change the course or path i am on. they won't deter me from the direction i walk or the One i follow...

i write this as several friends and i are dealing with weasle-esk people and situations right now, a tough season for sure...dealing with people who say one thing and do another, people who lie and cheat you and turn their back on you, claim to be men of God but act more like the serpent in the garden..what do we do? we wait. patiently, we wait. waiting is what we must do...even if we don't want to, or feel like we can stand it or even feel like we should have to....it is what we must do to have Him bring about what He wants to in our situations in life, in our hearts..and we must stop asking God why this is happening so much and just let Him work it out...it's like critiquing a painter while he paints a canvas before He is done, right? just be patient, let him finish adding all the colors and dimensions and light where it will go, the end product is bound to be more beautiful than what you could even imagine...

these seasons have to come to pass, they just have to. they MUST. and they will. sweet friend who shares this particular season with me and ian right now, this too shall pass. and we will be the better for it...and stronger and more humble.

thanks lyss. i needed that. i still have the "i want to punch you in the face" mentality", but that made me feel better, seriously. you're right. God will work it out, He always does. He remains faithful because people are NOT. thanks for reminding me. love you.

Your words speak such profound Truth. Yes..we must wait for those seasons, even when we feel a desperation to help with unintentional, wrongful words. I promise to be with you season through season, with a bit more wisdom, discernment, letting go of the desperation and pain to try and reach out and help you. I will "let go and let God". I have been with you from the very beginning of this painful journey and will continue with you forever, for I love you, Ian, Liam, Sydney Grace and Emmett too, beyond description of words. I also have to continue to read what you write in your blogging with a heart of Trust, instead of allowing it to make me suffer so desperately for you and remember that this is a "season" that God will help you through. I am grateful for your grace and forgiving spirit. Your friendship to me is a gift, unlike any gift I have ever had. Thank you. I just really love you all.

Thank you for this beautiful post. It brought me hope and uplift today. I love what you said about God being the painter who is still at work. I love the reminder that this season of anguished grief not only will pass, but will leave us the better for it hopefully.
